About Us
YADAD’s mission is to restore innocence in today’s youth. Our children are unfairly
burdened with so many adult issues that is virtually impossible to fully enjoy their childhood
years, preventing them from developing into positive, productive citizens in the community.
YADAD, established in 2003, took a stand against drugs, against diseases, and for
Hampton Roads' youth. As concerned members of the community, we will no longer
depend on educators and guidance counselors to instill in our children what should be
taught at home. We are taking a stand against drugs and helping youth cope with and
prevent diseases—stopping yet another child from slipping through the cracks.
Our primary objective is to provide youth with resources to empower themselves. Each
year, YADAD holds annual fund-raising events including The annual Red Night Out benefit
dinner, the fun-filled extravaganza Youth Fest, and many more to involve adolescents in the
communities they inhabit. These events help raise funds to support the operational costs of
the Youth Resource Center and to provide youth with services that promote healthy living
sharpen decision-making skills.
Saran Bell Day, the President and Founder of
YADAD has been called “The Community
Oprah”, and makes it her life’s mission to save
youth from preventable diseases. She is a
certified HIV/AIDS educator and has been
planting the seed of knowledge in those in the
community one child at a time. She has
endured personal struggles of her own, making
her empathetic to those who need her services
because she understands their situations. She
does not claim to know all the answers, but her
primary goal is to provide resources to
individuals in need.
